He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:12
1 John 5:9-13
In her book, Together with God, Heather Olford related how she came to Christ at age ten. An English evangelist named Tom Rees came to the church her parents attended in Northern Ireland. One night he preached from 1 John 5:12 and gave an invitation to receive Christ. Heather was too shy to go forward, but later that evening she knelt with her mother by the bedside and asked Jesus to come into her life as her Savior. “I was such a happy little girl after that decision,” she recalled, “and I knew in my heart that all was well with Jesus and I would go to heaven. A lovely sense of security was mine, which every child needs so much, especially now as they face a world mostly devoid of any mention of God and His love for us.”1 Heather later married Stephen Olford and they invested their lives in the work of the kingdom.
Whatever our age, there is a clear path to heaven. A child can find it and so can you. How vital to have security in an insecure world. How wonderful to have Jesus.
We do not have to live the Christian life by trying but by trusting.
