…lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11
2 Corinthians 10:1-6
The world has been horrified by the atrocities of ISIS fighters. They are inhuman and inhumane. Their violent nature is inexplicable unless we see behind them the figure of the Evil One. Satan is the prince of the power of the air, and his demons are malicious around the globe. He’s a master of deceit and destruction, the author of sin and suffering, and he feeds on cruelty like a child finding candy.
The enemy’s tactics aren’t limited to jihadist militants. He’s trying to corrupt the minds of schoolchildren, enslave multitudes in addictive habits, despoil the morality of entire cultures, and tear down the work of the Gospel around the globe. He hates the Church of Jesus Christ. He’s like a roaring lion trying to destroy us.
We mustn’t obsess over the devil or his demons, but neither should we be ignorant of their devices. “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4). Take your stand against the devil. Resist him. Use the weapons of the Spirit, and remember that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you.
Hell is the highest reward that the devil can offer you for being a servant of his.
