But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
Romans 8:12-39 Superhero powers come from a variety of sources. Some are genetic while others are the result of scientific experiments. While we may never have the ability to fly, we have spiritual super power through the Holy Spirit. The Greek word for the power of the Holy Spirit is dynamis, the same term from which we get the word dynamite. When we invite the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, He generously supplies us with the strength and insight we lack. Although it may not always be supplied in the way we expect, we can trust Him.
Because staying tuned to and trusting the Holy Spirit does not come naturally to us, there are strategies that can help us. One way to stay sensitive to His guidance and power is to pray specifically for people, needs, and situations in our lives. We sometimes use general blanket prayers to keep God at a distance and miss His specific answers and provision. Another way to stay tuned to the Holy Spirit's power is to keep a remembrance journal. When a prayer is answered, write it down. Reflecting on the Holy Spirit's power in the past strengthens our trust in Him for the future.
Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.
